About our work For most of the past half century, countries around the world have gradually opened up to foreign investment, and with good effect. Investment from other countries has supported growth and development, created jobs and enhanced welfare. One consideration that comes with eliminating barriers to capital inflows, is the potential risk for the host country’s national security or public order. This is why international instruments and agreements recognise countries’ rights to manage such risks. Countries that are part of the OECD-hosted investment policy community have agreed that it is good policy practice to design investment policies related to national security in a way that reconciles openness with effectiveness. They report on these policies at the twice-yearly Freedom of Investment Roundtables. Governments that adhere to the Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises have also agreed to notify any new policy in this area and to make this information publicly available. This policy paper offers a glimpse into the future of peacebuilding in the time of climate change by providing an in-depth assessment of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM). Climate-related change in Somalia has reduced livelihood options and caused migration, Security Related. It has also left significant parts of the population in a vulnerable condition. These climate-related security risks contribute to grievances and increase inequality and fragility, which in turn pose login to bitdefender to the implementation of UNSOM’s mandate. The impacts of climate change have hindered UNSOM in its work to provide peace and security in Somalia and in its efforts to establish functioning governance and judicial systems. UNSOM has responded to the growing impact of climate-related change. It has learned lessons from previous failed responses—notably the 2011 drought—and has created innovative initiatives that have been effective. While there is still room for improvement, UNSOM’s new initiatives may help to deliver a set of responses that meet the short-term need for a rapid humanitarian response and the long-term objective of achieving a sustainable and resilient society. The challenges faced by UNSOM and its responses to them have wider implications. They suggest that there is a need for synergetic policy responses that can turn the responses to climate-related security risks into opportunities for UN efforts to sustain peace. Security-Related Stress: A Perspective on Information Security Risk Management Abstract: In this study, the enactment of information security risk management by novice practitioners is studied by applying an analytical lens of security-related stress. Two organisations were targeted in the study using a case study approach to obtain data about their practices. The study identifies stressors and stress inhibitors in the ISRM process and the supporting ISRM tools and discusses Security Related implications for practitioners. For example, a mismatch between security standards and how they are interpreted in practice has been identified. This mismatch was further found to be strengthened by the design of the used ISRM tools, Security Related. Those design shortcomings hamper agility since they may enforce Security Related specific workflow or may restrict documentation, Security Related. The study concludes that security-related stress can provide additional insight into security-novice practitioners' ISRM challenges.
